Welcome to Young Enterprise Jersey

What is Young Enterprise?

Young Enterprise is a national education charity founded in 1963 to forge links between school and industry. The Jersey Area Board was formed in 1987 and registered as a Jersey Charity

Its mission is:

‘To inspire and educate young people to understand and value the role of business, through practical business projects which develop attitudes and skills for personal success, lifelong learning and employability'

The Jersey Area Board

Jersey has a strong Area Board made up from senior members of the local business community who have varying backgrounds.

Areas represented include:

  • Finance
  • Retailing
  • Accountancy
  • Sales and Marketing
  • Human Resources

These areas of expertise ensure that there is always someone suitably qualified to offer support and guidance to the young people who partake in the programmes.

Young people who become involved in the programme are referred to as ‘Achievers'

Supporters of Achievers are known as ‘Advisors' . Advisors are usually young managers from the many local businesses, which support the Y.E. initiative. Often taking part, as an Advisor is part of their own self-development programme through the business they work in.

The Area Board work in partnership with the States of Jersey Department of Education Sport and Culture to ensure that the Achievers, Advisors, and Teachers all have support to maximise the efficiency and effectiveness of all activities and deliver enjoyable learning programmes, of a consistent, relevant quality across all group activities.
